For experienced fans of two-wheel transport we have created a city bike model based on belt transmission. We introduce FORMAT 5343.

Geometry and technologies:

 

The stylish and vigorous city bike is laconic. The frame geometry is aimed for comfort and utility, typical appearance of alloy tubes with double butting match city riding. Pay attention to the special durable split of chainstays, which is necessary for mounting or changing the belt, as far as the belt cannot be disconnected unlike the chain.The bike has an excentric BB set, which adjusts the belt tension. Adjustment is made by means of 2 special screws, that is within the power of any owner of this bike.


 

Thanks to frame dropouts, you can equip your bike to your own heart's content: to mount additional mudguards and a carrier.  Besides we have provided holes for bottle holders - on down and seat tubes.

   

Design:

5343 has everything a standard city bike should have – it is functional, stylish and gives joy. It looks simple, modest but elegant. Well matched colour composition and flat paint will complete the image of a city mod.

 

Bright green parts of the fork and chainstays will attract attention and mark the rider’s identity. 5343 is a something excellent in FORMAT series thanks to its fine exterior and content.

Technical peculiarities:

5343 is just created for speeding up. It leaves the traffic behind. Thanks to Shimano Nexus gear hub you can accelerate efficiently. Changing gears you will feel how powerful your bike is becoming. In contrast to a mountain bike for example, it accelerates faster. One more advantage of a 8-speed internal gear hub by Shimano – it doesn’t require regular maintenance. It keeps adjustments, doesn’t require greasing and allows changing gear ratios even at a stop unlike usual drivetrain.

 

Some words about carbon belt system Gates Carbon Drive: as well, it doesn’t require regular maintenance and changing chainwheels or sprockets. Furthermore, it is light-weighted. With such a system you can forget about rust and noise.

 

Fast, sports-oriented silicone Schwalbe Kojak tyres with anti-puncture protection Race Guard and with reflecting signs are suitable for city travelling.

 

Verdict: 

5343 model is an advanced and freedom loving city transport. The exterior is notable for laconicism and minimalism. When necessary you can complete it with mudguards and a carrier. Anyway, it will look appropriate in a big city, as it is the territory of this bike. While testing, the FORMAT members travelled more than 2 000 km on this bike under different conditions, including low temperature and rains. 5343 showed itself in the best light. It is definitively reliable and fine.
